THE NSW branch of the Australia-Israel Chamber of Commerce (AICC) will have a new chief executive officer from September 5, two years since current CEO Charles Nightingale was appointed.

Michelle Blum will replace Nightingale, who will step into the new role of chief customer officer.

NSW chair Jillian Segal said Blum’s appointment will steer the AICC “into new and exciting territory that will benefit our members and wider network … with the chamber’s trade missions [to Israel] a key focus area”.

Blum, formerly the general manager for national operations at the Australian Institute of Management, has held senior roles in the education, financial services and not-for-profit sectors.

“I’m very much looking forward to ushering one of this country’s most prominent and reputable chambers into its next chapter of growth,” Blum said.

“The AICC’s valued partners, sponsors and members are going to be seeing a new direction of activity that will heighten corporate engagement and opportunities that we know are valued by our community.”

Nightingale, who was appointed CEO in September 2014 and first became involved with the AICC in the mid-90s, will now focus on developing closer relationships with the chamber’s existing members and sponsors, driving the business agenda and growing annual trade missions.

He told The AJN that highlights during his two-year term as CEO included AICC achieving “a massive increase in the awareness of Israel within the wider Australian business community”.

“We will have sent four major trade missions [to Israel] this year, including one with Mike Baird – the first time a serving NSW premier has visited Israel – and the inaugural Women Leaders trade mission, which will now be an annual event,” Nightingale said.

The AICC is one of Australia’s leading corporate networking companies, driving the country’s innovation and technology agenda by directly promoting and encouraging learnings from Israel.

On August 31, AICC NSW will present a property luncheon and panel discussion featuring Lucy Turnbull and Ross Greenwood.
