Bondars bound for Yeshiva

RIVKA Bondar has been appointed as the new principal of Yeshiva College alongside her husband Rabbi Levi Bondar in the position of head of learning and student welfare.
“The Bondars are an incredible team, a real power couple,” executive director of Yeshiva College, Rabbi Dr Dovid Slavin remarked about the couple. “Over the years they have assisted us with invaluable support and I know that they have done the same for a wide spectrum of Jewish schools around Australia.
“They are highly specialised in merging government expectations and Jewish educational values. I am extremely grateful that they have accepted the challenge to take our school to a new level of professionalism, efficiency and educational excellence.”
Rivka Bondar told The AJN, “I am very excited to have the opportunity to contribute to the future of Jewish education in Sydney … and to create strong, positive partnerships within the community.
“I am very passionate about the education of children as this is the future of our community.
“Cheder is a place where a new generation of rabbis and community leaders are being raised and it is crucial that we provide them with the best environment and resources for them to succeed.”
Along with her expertise as an educational consultant, Rivka Bondar brings an approach of “simcha poretz geder”, meaning joy breaks all boundaries, to her newly appointed position. She strives to create a stimulating, inspirational environment where students and staff share a passion for Jewish education and work collaboratively to achieve this common goal.
With experience in curriculum development through various teaching and leadership positions, Rabbi Bondar said that he is similarly “looking forward to providing the students with authentic learning experiences where they can follow their interests and work collaboratively with their peers. In order to accomplish this I will set up dynamic classrooms where the room can be transformed easily to accommodate different learning styles”.
The rabbi also plans to develop and implement a new student welfare program in a bid to create an inclusive, supportive environment.
“It is an exciting time for our school, with superb newly renovated premises and the appointment of the Bondars,” commented Rabbi Slavin.
The Bondars will begin the full responsibilities of their roles in term 4 while spending the remainder of term 3 building relationships with staff, parents and students.
