NEW kosher caterer Amaze In Taste (AIT) will be under the kosher supervision of a rabbi by next Wednesday.

When the company opened last month, it had a provisional kosher licence from the Kashrut Authority (KA) but the two parties could not come to an agreement for a full licence.

AIT raised concerns about the demand for a $25,000 bond, a personal guarantee and the requirement to source kosher meat from Sydney.

If the KA and AIT do not come to an agreement by Tuesday then the Rabbinical Council of NSW (RCNSW) has said it will appoint Rabbi Pinchus Feldman and Rabbi David Rogut to oversee AIT’s kashrut under the guidance of the RCNSW.

Rabbi Feldman told The AJN that he sincerely hopes the KA and AIT can come to an arrangement that brings AIT under KA supervision, but that he is willing step up if a deal isn’t reached.

“Failing that, myself and Rabbi David Rogut have been requested by the Rabbinical Council to assist by providing kashrut supervision for AIT,” Rabbi Feldman said.

“I am only willing to be involved if the supervision is under the auspices of the RCNSW and has the confidence of the rabbinical and lay leadership of the community.”

AIT spokesperson Hilton Cohn said it is an exciting development.

“We look forward to being under rabbinical supervision next week so that the community can continue to enjoy amazingly tasty meals from Amaze In Taste,” Cohn said.

“We wish to thank all those who have worked tirelessly over the past weeks, in particular the JCA, United Israel Appeal, Jewish National Fund, the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies, RCNSW, other Rabbis and communal individuals.”

The proposed solution came after a high-level meeting on Monday night that was attended by Rabbi Rogut, Rabbi Feldman, JCA president Peter Philippsohn, Jewish Board of Deputies president Yair Miller, Jewish Board of Deputies rabbinical advisor Rabbi Jeremy Lawrence, KA president Baron Revelman, Amaze In Taste spokesperson Hilton Cohn and RCNSW executives Rabbi David Blackman, Rabbi Paul Lewin, Rabbi Yossi Feldman and Rabbi Yehoram Ulman.
