THE Executive Council of Australian Jewry (ECAJ) and the B’nai B’rith Alfred Dreyfus Unit will host “Generation Next” – an evening to examine the issues critical to understanding our youth, and by extension, the future of Australia’s Jewish community – next week.

The panel will be moderated by ECAJ public affairs director Alex Ryvchin.

Panellists include Jack Pinczewski from the office of Malcolm Turnbull MP, AUJS national vice-chairperson Elenore Levi, Central Synagogue manager and event co-ordinator Leigh Golombick and North Shore Synagogue youth co-ordinator Steven Ligoff.

“For those concerned for the future and the continuing vibrancy of our community, this event featuring some our community’s brightest young thinkers is surely one not to be missed,” Ryvchin said.

Topics to be discussed on the night include whether young people see religious observance as integral to Jewish identity, if they see Jewish continuity a guiding priority, and whether our children and grandchildren are growing up as Zionists or if the connection to Israel is diminishing as the Holocaust, Israel’s rebirth and its military victories recede into history.

The event will be in held at the B’nai B’rith centre in Sydney at 7:30pm on Wednesday, 5 August.
