BOARD of Deputies of British Jews president Marie van der Zyl and CEO Gillian Merron will be the guest speakers at the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies’ (JBOD) plenum to be held via Zoom tonight (Wednesday, May 20) at 7.30pm, co-hosted by the Executive Council of Australian Jewry.

Van der Zyl was recently ranked among the 40 most Influential Jews in the world by the Jerusalem Post.

She led the negotiations for the UK adopting the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance working definition of antisemitism, has been active in interfaith relations and played a leading role in the campaign against antisemitism within UK Labour.

NSW Jewish Board of Deputies president Lesli Berger said it is a unique opportunity to hear from the UK communal leadership, “which has undergone very challenging times in recent months”.
