AUSTRALIAN Jewish wheelchair tennis player Adam Kellerman is the community’s last remaining hope for a trophy at this year’s Australian Open at Melbourne Park.

Kellerman, who was due to play his first-round singles match after The AJN went to print on Wednesday, earned a wildcard spot in the tournament when he won the Australian wheelchair championships recently.

The 25-year-old will also play in the wheelchair doubles tournament on Thursday, alongside Maikel Scheffers from the Netherlands.

Meanwhile, Israeli tennis star Dudi Sela reached the third round of the main draw before he was knocked out by Russian Andrey Kuznetsov in four sets, 7-5, 3-6, 6-1, 7-6.
