Learning from the masters

THE Maccabi AJAX Cricket Club held its coaching academy recently to kick off preparations for the 2013/14 season, and called on the expertise of two cricketing greats.

Former Australian Test and one-day players Adam Dale and Brad Hodge shared their knowledge with Maccabi’s promising cricketers from both the junior and senior clubs.

Thanks to grants handed down by the Maccabi Victoria Sports Foundation, the coaching academy, which was run by senior coach Paul Jubber with the assistance of junior director of coaching Gary Kitto and club stalwart Simon Fisher, saw bud- ding stars drink in tips from swing bowler Dale and run machine Hodge.

Dale, who played for Australia on 32 occasions, instructed the players on the important points of bowling, while Hodge, who donned the green and gold 31 times and is the most prolific run-scorer in domestic cricket, expressed his words of wisdom on correct batting techniques.
