WITH the 32nd Maccabi Australia Junior Carnival in WA done and dusted, preparation for next year’s event in Melbourne is already underway, with organiser Justin Lipson admitting it will be a tough act to follow.

An estimated 1000 participants will arrive in Victoria in less than 12 months and Lipson is adamant the best Carnival is yet happen.

“The organising committee is well underway planning another exciting, dynamic and engaging Carnival,” Lipson told The AJN.

“It’s always the biggest here, so it’s important that we re-engage the competitiveness of sport, the excitement of a new and never-been-done social event.

“At the end of the day, the numbers are irrelevant, it’s the enjoyment factor for those involved.”

Even though it was a more intimate Carnival, Perth’s Jewish community left no stone unturned to provide a stand-out event.

“It was such a great success,” Perth manager Karen Steinberg said.

“The kids had a ball and that’s our objective; they’re here to connect and have a great time, which most did.

“Everything was really well planned and executed, and we managed to engage the entire Jewish community.”

With a strong focus on increas- ing the competitiveness of the sports, and worthwhile social and community events, Steinberg said the Carnival was a rewarding experience for all involved.

“We definitely provided an impetus for competition and kids were excited to win trophies,” Steinberg said.

“There were many highlights, such as the pool party, and the community day really opened the kids’ eyes.”

Steinberg is somewhat relieved the hectic week is over and said that there’s no doubt Melbourne will also be able to put on a great event.

“Melbourne will have no issues getting the numbers and providing a fun Carnival,” Steinberg said.

“They’ve got challenges in regards to size, but the make-up of a strong committee is vital and it can’t be run without the unbelievable work of the Community Security Group.”

The 33rd Maccabi Australia Junior Carnival will take place from January 13 to 20, 2015.
