PARTICIPANTS in the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies (JBOD) Jeremy Spinak Young Leaders Program examined the political and parliamentary process in the first session of the program held at NSW Parliament House recently.

The young leaders heard from parliamentarians Jamie Parker, Gabrielle Upton and Walt Secord in the session sponsored by NSW Parliamentary Friends of Israel chair Natalie Ward.

The second session was held in the NSW Jewish War Memorial building and Sydney Jewish Museum, with participants discussing the Jewish community’s history, organisational make-up, strengths and future challenges.

Guest speakers included Julian Leeser MP, who discussed the importance of communal and political involvement, and Peter Philippsohn, who spoke about how communal allocation of resources is decided.

Participants will share their experiences at November’s JBOD plenum, which will be dedicated to Spinak, who passed away last November aged 36 from cancer.
