Hakins: ‘Little consolation’
THE father of murdered Jewish schoolgirl Thalia Hakin has expressed relief that the ordeal of experiencing James Gargasoulas' trial is finally over, after his daughter's murderer – who killed six people in a 2017 car rampage – was convicted and jailed for 46 years.

MELBOURNE man James Gargasoulas, 28, has been found guilty of multiple murders after a car rampage in Bourke Street in January last year during which 10-year-old Beth Rivkah Ladies College student Thalia Hakin and five other pedestrians were run down and killed.

Jury unable to agree on fitness for trial

‘A gift from heaven’
"LOOK at the picture of Thalia … and our dog, Benji. Just enjoying the simple things in life. Does it remind you of someone?" asked Tony Hakin as he referred to the photo of his daughter, Thalia, hand outstretched upon the family dog with her younger sister in tow. The image beamed across the screens of Melbourne's Royal Exhibition building this week. It has been one year since the Hakin family was rocked by the Bourke Street tragedy, when the 10-year-old Beth Rivkah student was tragically killed in the car rampage on January 20, 2017.

Thalia mourned at Beth Rivkah
