TRIBUTES are flowing for Jewish Community Council of Victoria (JCCV) vice-president Anton Hermann, who tragically passed away yesterday aged 53.
Hermann was killed while riding his bicycle during a family holiday near Port Douglas on Saturday morning.
In a tribute on Facebook, JCCV president Jennifer Huppert said, “It is with great sadness that I announce the tragic and untimely passing of Anton Hermann, JCCV vice-president and close friend.
“Anton was a very special man, who devoted his time to his family, his friends and his community.
“Our thoughts are with his wife Karen, children Joel, Ella and Tahlia, Mother Doreen and brother Larry.
“Baruch Dayan HaEmet.”
The Maccabi Cycling Club Victoria has also paid tribute to Hermann, “a much-loved member and club champion”.
“Anton was a committed and passionate cyclist who has travelled overseas with other Maccabi members, ridden events like the Peaks Challenge and attended the Maccabi Bright trip,” Maccabi Cycling Club’s John Gould wrote on Facebook.
“Many tributes will be made over the next few days about what an outstanding person Anton was as director, pro bono and community investment at Minter Ellison Lawyers, leader and volunteer for many charities and causes, and well-natured and generous person.
“May his memory be a blessing – ride on Anton.”
