Weill’s fond farewell

Victorian rep Weill, 18, went out in triumph, winning gold in the 17-19 girls’ 200 backstroke in 2:18.20, and a team gold in the 200 medley relay.
She also won two team silvers in the mixed 200 medley relay, and the 4×50 free relay, and a silver in the 100 backstroke, as well as a bronze in the 50 backstroke.
Noting on social media that this was her official farewell to representative school swimming, Weill felt “honoured” to have been selected as captain of the Victorian team, whose members she described as “amazing people”.
Fellow Victorian Nissen, 18, won a team gold in the 13-19 boys 300 handicap relay, and he came fifth in the 17-19 boys’ 100 backstroke, and sixth in the 50 backstroke final.
NSW rep Goodridge, 17 – who recently won one gold and five silvers for Australia at the 2019 Pan American Maccabi Games – came fourth in the 17-19 girls’ 50 butterfly final in 29.20 seconds, and sixth in the 100 butterfly final in 1:06.08.
