AFTER nearly 14 years in the role, JewishCare CEO Claire Vernon will leave at the end of 2020.

Vernon has led the organisation’s transformation from a small welfare agency to a financially sustainable, professionally managed social services organisation with significantly enhanced capability and deep reach into the community through its broad range of services.

During her tenure, annual revenue grew more than 150 per cent while reliance on JCA funding decreased with JewishCare Foundations providing a significant annual allocation to support the organisation’s work.

“It has been an incredible journey and I am so proud of what we have been able to achieve over the years. I have been supported by a highly engaged board, an amazing management team, and a wonderfully dedicated team of community workers and volunteers, who support our large and diverse client base,” Vernon said.

“JewishCare is an exceptional organisation that is well poised to take on the challenges posed by the ever-changing needs of the community regulatory landscape. I look forward to watching it continue to grow and evolve over the years to come.”

She added, “I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the board, my team, our clients, and the entire community for their support over the years.”

JewishCare president Jason Sandler said Vernon “will be very much missed”.

“Under Claire’s leadership, JewishCare has become a world class community organisation which is superbly able to respond to the broad and varied needs of our community,” he said.

“She has established a high performance, highly engaged team and has led from the front in setting, achieving and being held accountable for the organisation’s goals year in and year out.

“On behalf of the board, management, staff and the Jewish community at large, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Claire for her many years of outstanding service.”

JewishCare’s board will immediately commence the process of recruiting a new CEO.
