TREASURER Josh Frydenberg was asked if he will be the first Jewish prime minister of Australia at Yeshivah-Beth Rivkah’s corporate breakfast last Thursday morning.

“I’m just happy giving service,” he responded to laughter from across the room.

“It’s an enormous privilege to be the Treasurer of Australia and to be the deputy leader of our party.”

Frydenberg told those in attendance at the Crown Palladium that the Prime Minister and his wife have had dinner at his house, and that he has accepted invitations to stay at Kirribilli House on several occasions.

“Scott and I have a really good relationship.

“In the past, leaders and deputies have had a degree of tension, you’d have to say, but we don’t have that at all.

“The stability is good for the country and the party.”

Frydenberg joked that attending the Yeshivah event with more than 350 people, including dozens of rabbis, corporate leaders and his “mishpucha”, was like being back at his bar mitzvah.
